Domomorphisme

2026 / Installation in public space / 4 lightboxes / Audio (4'37'’)

Domomorphisme is the epilogue of a long-term artistic project dedicated to the July 2021 floods in the Province of Liège.

The first artistic installation, Amon nos autes, was exhibited for two and a half months during the Biennale de l’Image Possible 2024 (Liège), and then at the Exploratoire des Possibles, at B3 (Liège), in 2025. Slides damaged by the floods depicted the instant of the disaster, while a series of videos showed the aftermath, six months later.

Domomorphisme looks at reconstruction three to four years after the disaster. The audio piece (1) is a recording of Carine Sluse, a flood survivor from Pepinster who stayed in her home and restored it. She discusses the impact the disaster had on her relationship with others, with herself and with her home.

The lightboxes (2) present macroscopic images of the restoration of her house. Their clinical, sanitized appearance contrasts with the iconography usually associated with floods.

Further down this page, the videos (3) and slides (4) from Amon nos autes can be viewed. Scrolling down takes you back through the project’s timeline: from the reconstruction (march 2024 - september 2025) to the aftermath of the floods (January 2022), all the way to the moment of the disaster (July 2021).
